Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

DECIS1ON was reserved by the Metropolitan Deputy Licensing Authority last week on applications for new feeder and express services and excursions from Stevenage made by the United Counties Omnibus Co., Ltd., Birch Bros., Ltd., and the North Star Coach Co.

Each of the applicants objected to certain parts of the others' applications, and the Eastern Counties Omnibus Co., Ltd., the London Transport Executive and British Railways objected to them all.

Objectors contended that the United Counties' application was for services far greater than were needed, and that there was no reason why Birch Bros. should be allowed into Stevenage, where the established local operator was willing to cater for the demand for increased facilities.

United Counties submitted that by providing a feeder service from Stevenage to Hitchin they could offer five express services. That was the economic and sensible way to enlarge the facilities out of the town,

A spokesman for the Stevenage New Town Residents' Federation, who, together with other local bodies, sup-ported the applications, stressed the need for a half-hourly Green Line service to London, against the existing hourly frequency.
