I L is possible that a comprehensive discussion on denationalization will be held at the Road Haulage Association's conference at Harrogate from October 11-13. The subject does not figure in any of the 12 resolutions contained in a preliminary list issued this week, but the chairman's committee met on Wednesday to consider the matter. Other resolutions are likely to he added, Three resolutions deal with roads. One says that the Government's proposed expenditure is entirely inadequate. Another calls for more and better lay-bys on two-lane roads, and a third draws attention to the danger of overhanging trees.
The proposed expenditure on the modernization of the railways is described as retrograde and harmful to the nation's economy. Resolution 5 says that a tractor weighing over 3 tons unladen should be permitted to tow a semi-trailer 8 ft. wide. Another resolution deals with winking lights and brake warning lights.

at docks and industrial premises arc described as entirely out of date. and steps to obviate delays are recommended. It is proposed to ask the Government to introduce summer time for a longer period than has been customary.
Resolution 9 seeks to absolve employers from responsibility for offences in connection with records committed solely by drivers. Resolution ICI asks for representations to be made to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders to operate a scheme, similar to the credit system provided by the Tyre Distributors Association, whereby emergency repairs can be carried out on vehicles when they are away from their bases.
The Association •are to be called upon to support a nationally recognized course of instruction at technical colleges. The conference is to be requested to consider ways of improving the service offered to members.
