Metro-Cammell Weymann is exhibit two new coaches at Motor Show.

The first is an entirely new igle-deck coach built on an airrung chassis. The coach will powered by a longitudinally Dunted vertical Cummins enle coupled to a manual synchmesh gearbox driving through ;Ingle reduction hypoid axle. A ider type chassis frame is ed.

An all-new 12-metre body will fitted and this will feature le-piece zinc-coated steel side inels and bonded glazing to e side windows. The coach will have luggage accommodation between the axles.

MCW is also to show a new three-axle Metrobus doubledeck coach based on the threeaxle Metrobus chassis supplied to operators in Hong Kong. This coach features a fully trimmed interior with forced air ventilation. It has a toilet and servery and is expected to be evaluated by the Scottish Bus Group on long-distance services.

The Metrobus chassis retains the constant height air suspension used on the Hong Kong buses but like the coach, will be powered by the new Cummins 10-litre engine which in this case is mounted transversely at the rear and drives through a close ratio fully automatic gearbox incorporating a built-in retarder. The double-deck coach is designed specifically for operation within Britain and is too high for most Continental operation.

The Cummins unit is available in two power ratings for different types of psv operation, and it is the more powerful coach specification that is fitted to the MCW vehicles.

Available for both vertical in-. line and transverse installations, the LT10-250 produces 186kW (250bhp) at 2,100rpm. Maximum torque is 1,017Nm (750Ibft) at 1,00Orpm.

For city bus operation, the LT10-18 0 produces 1 34kW (180bhp) at 1,8 5Orpm and 813Nm (600Ibft) at 1,000rpm torque.
