By means of a device known as the Inspectascope it is possible to make an examination of the underside of a vehicle in comfort. It consists of an observation plate mounted on a light tubular frame to which a suitable handle is attached.

A lamp socket at the base of the plate takes either a vehicle bulb or one for mains voltage. To examine a vehicle, the Inspectascope is pushed beneath it and should artificial lighting be necessary a switch on the frame handle is operated. The standard model sells for £5 19s. 6d., and the de luxe chromiumplated model at £6 19s. 6d. The makers are Messrs. M.P.T., 91 London Road, Manchester, 1.

F. J. Edwards, Ltd., 359-361 Euston Road, London, N.W.1, have introduced a new range of their Besco motorized folding machines. By the aid of one of these tools it is possible to carry out general bending up to 90° with either sharp or round corners, and many kinds of section can be formed including angles, channels and trunk work.

Mild-steel sheet and plate up to I in. thickness. can be handled, the only effort demanded of the operator being the setting of the machine and control of the three-position switch. The standard driving motor is wound for 400-440-v., 3-phase. 50-cycles supply.

The range consist& of 50 in., 74 in. and 98 in. models, their weights being from 55 cwt. to 70 cwt.

An assembly unit and stock-holding tray of a type in which all the components are visible and instantly accessible, has been marketed by the British Central Electrical Co., Ltd., 6-8 Rosebery Avenue, London, E.C.1. Twenty transparent plastic trays, each divided down the centre, are pivotally mounted about two light-alloy pillars.

When not in use the trays can be aligned, one above the other. When in use any single tray or number of trays can be fanned out to the most convenient position for the operator. The device, which is known as the Visipart, sells for £3 10s.

The new M.E. universal recovery cradle is for use in towing vehicles fitted with independent front-wheel suspension. As the cradle does not depend on fixtures to the suspension points of a vehicle, it can be used effectively in cases of severe frontal damage.

It is intended for use with vehicles having a maximum axle load of one ton and can be attached either to a breakdown crane or a towing ambulance. The makers are Mann Egerton and Co., Ltd., Norwich.

The M.E. cascade cleaner, made by the same company, has been developed for cleaning small electrical components. Paraffin or white spirit, which is used as the cleaning fluid, is picked up and thrown at high velocity both upwards and outwards so as to fill the mild-steel containing tank.

An electric motor, under push-button control, drives the centrally positioned rotor._ The fluid capacity of the tank is abehtt eight gallons.

Among new items recently introduced by Laycock Engineering Ltd., Victoria Works, Millhouses, Sheffield, 8, is a single-stage single-cylindered compressor. It has finger-type valves and these, in conjunction with a large air filter, provide a high degree of silence in operation. The fan guard acts as a blower, the air being conducted on to the cylinder head to permit the compressor to run for long periods without overheating.
