• Stoke-on-Trent haulier Alfred Williams, who was injured when another lorry knocked his vehicle over a bridge in West Germany in 1981, has been awarded £114,000 damages after an eight-year campaign by the Transport and General Workers Union.
Appeal won
• Bus driver Noel Crowe has been cleared of reckless driving following a crash in Glasgow two years ago which caused the death of a woman. Crowe was sentenced to nine months' imprisonment but the appeal court called the sentence "a miscarriage of justice".
