• Overloading charges brought against Lanstar (Astley), and one of the company's drivers, were dismissed after the Ross-on-Wye Magistrates were told that time had not been allowed for the load of fuel to settle before a tanker was weighed at the DTp's split plate weighbridge at Ross.
The magistrates ordered the Traffic Area to pay £400 towards the defence costs, after John Backhouse, defending, said the refusal of the driver's request for the tanker to be reweighed had caused very great expense.
