III Leeds rapid transit proposals have been shelved for at least 12 months after failure by political groups to agree on the system and route. Leeds City Council had proposed a 20km (12-mile) system operated by Briway driverless cars, while West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive wanted a rapid tramway and Yorkshire Rider proposed a guided bus way.
