11 Tours operator Guide Friday has started operations in its fourth new city this year, after coming to agreements with operators in York Friday's expansion comes after a deal between York City & District, the local operator, and Yorktour, the local handling agent. Yorktour will remain as managing agents for Friday, while YC&D will provide garaging and servicing facilities for the vehicles.
Friday started in Stratford in 1975 and has built up an impressive portfolio of tourist activities allied to its open-top bus operations. Expansion started last year with the setting up of a Cambridge operation, and similar ones followed in Bath, Oxford and Edinburgh this year.
The new operation in York takes over from the YC&D summer season open-top oP eration. Further expansion is expected in the spring, when the other York operator, Yorvik Tours, resumes service with its four open-toppers.
