1—■ of Joseph Lucas Ltd. at the Public Works Exhibition was a new hydrostatic transmission unit. Known as the Lucas 100 transmission, it is an infinitely variable unit designed to be used in place of torque convertors or mechanical gearboxes in such things as industrial trucks and cranes. Application to road vehicles is not envisaged in the foreseeable future.
• The 'transmission is a self-contained unit weighing 210 lb. and consists of a hydraulic pump and a motor mounted on either side of a central block incorporating oil ways and a high-pressure relief valve. The unit has a -capacity of up to 100 b.h.p: and an input torque capacity of 750 to .850 lb. ft
