Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

West Midland Traffic Commissioners hear the application of Scottish Omnibuses, Ltd., to take over the luxury coach service run by Northern Roadways, Ltd., between Glasgow and Birmingham.

Mr. P. Currie, a Birmingham Scot who led an agitation for the service three years ago, has written to Scottish Omnibuses asking for an assurance that the present facilities will be maintained.

A reply from Mr. James Amos, chairman of Scottish Omnibuses, said that whether Northern Roadways had found the same enthusiasm which Mr. Currie appeared to feel was a matter on which there might be divided opinion. He assured Mr. Currie that if the licence was transferred it would be operated at a standard "highly acceptable to the public."

[When the Scottish Traffic Commissioners authorized the take-over (The Commercial Motor, October 19) the chairman said they would be inclined to favour a continuance of " what was termed a de-luxe service."1 YORKSHIRE—TORBAY BIDS
