• Pegaso has become the first manufacturer in Continental Europe to take on the Multidrive steered-and-driven articulated trailer concept.
Its new 8x6 combination has a capacity of 46 tonnes and forms part of a new heavy-duty construction range from the Spanish company called the Trakker.
The 8x6 Multitrak uses Pegaso's own Mider cab (not marketed in the UK) and recently introduced 250kW (340hp) version of the in-house 12-litre charge-cooled diesel from the Troner.
According to Roger Dougherty, director of Enasa's international division, the Multitrak was developed in response to the booming local demand for construction vehicles.
Pegaso will be sourcing the Multidrive equipment from a Spanish bodybuilder under a licensing agreement.
The truck manufacturer has no plans to bring the Multitrak into the UK via Seddon Atkinson, but Dougherty reports that the co-operation with Multidrive arose in part through Seddon's own satisfactory experience with the system. , Last year Multidrive pro duced some 40 chassis; now it is in contact with other European manufacturers.
Elsewhere in the Trakker range there is further evidence of the growing relationship between Pegaso and its new parent Iveco which has already resulted in Pegaso-badged versions of the new EuroCargo and Spanishbuilt TurboDailies.
To meet the need for a 6x6 site vehicle Pegaso has lifted a 330.30 model from the established Iveco vehicle line-up. It is powered by a 14-litre in-line six.
