• The Tibbett & Britten Group has consolidated the restructuring of its clothing distribution operation by launching a dedicated company, called Fashion Logistics, as part of its £3m, two-year investment programme.
The new operation will integrate all aspects of its clothing operation including warehousing and distribution services, allowing customers to deal with a single contact point, says T&B.
The company has been in hanging garment distribution since 1958. It says the new firm is necessary to allow clients to manage increasingly complex warehousing, pre-retail and distribution services.
"Through Fashion Logistics customers continue to deal with their usual point of contact," says Bob Vickers, chairman of Fashion Logistics and TBG Clothing and Textile Division, "but they can now buy all services through one contract — and receive one invoice for the total."
The new company has 10 depots backed up by TBG's 44 UK sites and 24 swap-bodied vehicles have been added to the fleet. Further spending on vehicles is planned by Frank Hawes, who has been appointed as managing director, distribution services.
