HISTORIC MEETING • The 12th Annual Gathering of the Historic Commercial Vehicle Society starts on Friday 17 July at 6pm at Thomes Park, Wakefield.

The event, sponsored by Daf Trucks (GB) area distributor Northern Commercials (Mirfield) will feature a display of all classes of historic vehicles, the third annual West Riding run and a Midsummer barn dance and supper with an autojumble.

MIDLANDS STEAM FESTIVAL • The two-day Midlands Steam Festival being organised by the County of Salop Steam Engine Society at Weston Park on June 13-14 is expected to be the most spectacular event of its kind to date.

Steam boats will be featured for the first time; also lined up for Weston are around 30 traction engines, including 'Goliath' — the largest showman's engine of its kind in Britain — steam lorries, many of them made at the Sentinel Works in Shropshire, and steam rollers_
