'HE AXLE interests of GKN are now all trading as a single company, iKN Axles Ltd, with production now centred at two main operating livisions based at Birmingham and Leeds.
The company, formerly trading as Salisbury Transmission Ltd in iirmingham, is now the Light Division of GKN Axles Ltd manufacturig the same axle ranges and covering the same vehicle market ectors.
The former Kirkstall Forge and Engineering Company Ltd in Leeds now the Heavy Division of GKN Axles Ltd covering the market ectors previously served by both Kirkstall and Newton Transmisions Ltd.
Technical backup for the company is provided by the GKN Group 'echnological Centre where advanced 'computer techniques and quipment are available.
New axles are being developed for both off-and on-highway marets.
