Obituary
We record with regret the death of Chris Dixon at 57. Mr Dixon, who was the Road Haulage Association's industrial relations officer for 12 years, established a reputation for his skilled and enthusiastic handling of industrial relations matters, especially during the 1 979 haulage strike. He worked tirelessly establishing a training structure for regional wage negotiators, and the RHA's success in achieving comparatively. low wage settlements last winter is a fining memorial to his efforts.
We also record with regret the death of Jack Rothwell, a past president of the National Tyre Distributors Association. Mr Rothwell was managing director of General Tyre Services Ltd of Hounslow which he started in the early 1950s. He began his career in the tyre business with Firestone in 1926.
