A S forecast exclusively in The Commercial Motor last week, Mr. R. N. Ingram (W. R. Ingram, Ltd., Yardley, Birmingham) was on Wednesday elected national chairman of the Road Haulage Association for the next two years. He succeeds. Mr. R. G. Crowther.

Mr. Ingram's place as one of the four national vice-chairmen has been taken by Mr. N. T. O'Reilly (Carlisle), who is chairman of the Association's national finance committee.

The other three national vice-chairmen were re-elected. They are Mr. J. B. Mitchell (Scottish Central Carting Co., Ltd., Edinburgh), Mr. H. H. Crow (Crow Carrying Co., Ltd., Barking, Essex) and Mr. D. 0. Good (Pioneer Haulage, Ltd., Beer, Devon). Mr. Good is also one of the three vice-chairmen of the Devon and Cornwall Area of the Association.

The newly appointed national council for 1958-59, consisting of 121 members, held their first meeting on Wednesday. Mr. Crowther remains a member of the national. council.

BLOOD COLLECTION VEHICLE

STATED to be the first vehicle of its kind in the country, a mobile collection vehicle to be used by Sheffield Blood Transfusion Service has seats for 17 people and beds in the rear. RefrigeraIron and sterilization equipment is carried.

The body was built by Plaxtons (Scarborough), Ltd., on a 6-ton chassis to the design of Mr. Frank Green, the service's transport officer. It will cover a route through six counties.

P.V.O.A. ELECTIONS AirEMBERS of the Western Area of the 1V1 Passenger Vehicle Operators' Association have re-elected Mr. W. Feltham as their chairman. Vice-chairmen are Mr. S. Bellamy and Mr. E. Burrett.

The South Wales Area have re-elected Mr. A. E. Brewer as chairman and Mr. A. T. Chivers as vice-chairman.

TAX-FREE 12-SEATERS

THE Commissioners of Customs and Excise said on Tuesday that 12-seaters built to the 1958 Conditions of Fitness Regulations would be exempted from purchase tax, and the specification for other types of tax-exempt 12-seater would remain in force.

C.A.V. VISIT FROM OVERSEAS
