Ma. D. J. F. JACKSON has been re-elected chairman of the western division of the Traders' Road Transport Association, together with MR, C. J. HORSLEY who also represents the area on the national council. /1/41r. Jackson remains a member of the national executive.

MR. A. J. PURVES, managing director of the International Harvester Co. of Great Britain, Ltd., since 1947, has retired from the organization, but will remain a director. MR. BROOKS MCCORMICK, who has been joint managing director with Mr. Purves since 1951, now becomes sole managing director.

LT.-COL. W. E. CASTELLO, M.I.MECH.E., has been appointed chairman and joint managing director of Godfreys, Ltd., following the death of MR. F. A. APPLEBEE. MR. H. E. Dowtsr, F.C.A., has been appointed joint managing director, and MR. G. R. W. CRuonas, M.I.M.I., takes up the general managership. He is also a director.

MR. JAMES WALKER, past-president of. the Liverpool Cart and Motor Owners' Association, was made a presentation last week as a mark of appreciation of his services.

MR. G. L. lihNcatam, transport controller of the Pilkington group, St. Helens, was recently admitted to the freedom of the City of London and installed as a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Carmen.

MR. R. EDGLEY COX 1s to take up the general managership of Walsall Transport Department, next month, in ,succession to MR. M. J. SOMERFIELD. Since September, 1949, Mr. Cox has been general manager and engineer of St. Helens Transport Department.

MR. L. J. MooRE has become southwestern area superintendent of Ribble Motor Services, Ltd. He was formerly district traffic superintendent at Bootle depot. MR. L. S. HIGGINS, assistant south-western area superintendent, is to take over Mr. Moore's position at Bootle.
