Tie was a driver and nothing more. He reported that the lorry was pulling badly, and the fitter, after looking over the engine, determined to test the brakes for binding. "Jack up both back wheels, Harry," said the fitter to the driver. This done, the driver himself turned one of the wheels and then noticed that the other wheel was rotating in the opposite direction. " Lor' love me," he remarked to the fitter. "No wonder she runs rotten! Fancy her trying to do that with five ton o' coal on!"
