• Whale Tankers now has a service and maintenance agreement with Derbyshire County and Leicester City councils as part of its fixed-price WhaleCare contract.
Introduced in response to requests for fixed-price deals from a number of council fleet managers, the scheme provides for regular inspection and servicing of vacuum tankers and gritters on the council's premises.
As well as improving reliability and reducing unexpected downtime, the Whale technicians will also carry out important safety checks. Key components such as rear docy clamps, seals and pressure relief valves will be regularly inspected. Commenting on the scheme Whale service manager Bob Churchill says: "Gradually reducing performance is often either ignored or not noticed, and dri vers remain unaware of safety risks. Uncorrected minor faults often lead to severe damage as well as breakdowns and excessive downtime."
