Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

by Karen Miles and Juliet Morrison • A hi-jacker forced a truck driver to take him on a threehour journey at gunpoint last weekend—but made no attempt to steal the truck or its load. The assailant, who concealed his identity with a black ski mask, jumped into the truck when it was parked in the Swan Centre parking area in Leatherhead, Surrey on Saturday (11 March).

He did not hurt the driver and left the truck at 22:15hrs, near the Swanscombe slip road on the anti-clockwise section of the M25.

Police are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen the pair on the jour ney which covered parts of the M25 and M3. The truck involved in the incident was a blue 17-tonne Leyland Daf, registration F396 KBM. The attacker was a white man around 510" tall, of medium build, with a southern accent.

Contact Crimestoppers on (0800) 555111 and mention that the case is being dealt with by Dorking Police.

I: A league table of the UK's truck crime blackspots will be released next week when the RAC publishes research into regional variations of truck theft and hijacking. The RAC says the report will be a "significant survey which produces a pretty accurate picture of the present conditions."
