• Police have described two wheels which came off a truck on the M62 as "fit for the scrapyard". But the Lancashire haulier who owns the truck was granted an absolute discharge. Derek Jordan, owner of T Sharpe Haulage of Heald Lane, Weir, Bacup, admitted using a vehicle in a dangerous condition. Police found corrosion on the lost wheels and wheel nuts which, they said, had not been fully tightened.
