• More details are emerging about the second-generation Mercedes-Benz Ti van and chassis cab range due to be launched in the UK this week (CM 9-15 March).

The 0M601 2.3-litre diesel engine, currently in Mercedes passenger cars, is being tailored for installation in the Tl. The 0M601 produces maximum power of 58kW (78hp) at 3,800rpm, an increase of 5kW (7hp). Later this year. Mercedes will add the five-cylinder 0M602 2.9-litre diesesl engine as an option for the TI. It is rated at 70kW (94hp) at 3,800rpm, with a torque output of 192Nm (142lbft).

Mercedes-Benz claims fuel savings of up to 20% and cleaner emissions for both engines, through a combination of mixture formation and injection.

Windscreen gutters create turbulance, reducing the drag coefficient while keeping the level of wind noise low and preventing fouling of the side windows.

The changes in specifications are accompanied with extended maintenance service intervals.
