THE 36th annual conference of the Institute of Public Cleansing will be held at Southend-on-Sea, between June 18 and 22. Cleansing is, of course, a subject of the greatest importance, costing the ratepayers approximately £10,500,000 per annum.
According to the preliminary prograrurne, the arrangements will be as follow : June 18: civic reception at the Palace Hotel, 8.30 p.m.
June 19: 10 a.m., official welcome, installation of the President, presidential address, address by Mr. I. G. Gibbon, C.B., Principal Assistant Secretary, Ministry of Health ; Public Cleausit4 Problems and Organization in Seaside Towns," by Mr. R. Entwistle, director of public cleansing, Blackpool; 2 p.m.; visit to Thames Board Mills, Purfleet.
