Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Great Interest Shown throughout the Industry. Already a Number of Special Requests Have Been Met.

As we anticipated, the facilities initiated by us in a recent issue of THE COMMERCIAL MOTOR have proved to be very acceptable at the present time. Very special attention is being given—and will for some time to come continue to be given—to the possibilities of employing more or less out-of-date commercial-vehicle models as well as converted touring cars of reasonably suitable type.

One of the most important hindrances to negotiations in connection with this class of business has proved to be—in the experience of our inspecting engineers—the difficulty of ensuring that an adequate supply of spare parts for machines of this kind shall b3 available. When the user of an obsolete model of commercial vehicle, from which he has been getting reasonably good service, taking into account the exceptional circumstances of to-day, suddenly finds himself stranded for the want of a special part which cannot be manufactured without exceptional difficulty, he is likely to be very seriously inconvenienced.

In our own experience, we find that stocks of various parts belonging to these old models are often held by people who have long ceased to run the machines for which they were wanted, and we have already found it practicable to unearth the whereabouts of some of these supplies, and to make it possible for them to be secured by those who particularly want them. We shall still continue, at any rate, until such time as the demand is less insistent than it appears to be at the time of writing, to publish lists of spare-parts for such models wanted, and of similar spare-part stocks. These will be keyed under reference letters, and any correspondence in connection • with them should quote these letters and be enclosed in envelopes addressed to the Editor, and marked "Spare-Part."

We shall welcome information from any of our readers or their friends who are holding stocks of spare parts. for obsolete models of commercial vehicles and converted touring cars.
