• Troubled London Country North East's new managing director is, as expected, Bob Howells. Formerly with Yorkshire Rider, he replaces Alan Jones, who quit at the end of last month.
Howells is likely to bring sweeping changes to the lossmaking company, which is recovering from a 10-day strike which, it admits, costs it over £45,000. This follows a probe into LCNE's alleged poor performance on local and Green Line services. The company was banned from registering any new services for six months.
