• A national charity dial-andride bus service, specialising in carrying the disabled, is to come under local management in Birmingham.
The Cheshire-based Community Transport Association has set up a local company, West Midlands Special Needs Transport, to try to use staff more efficiently and provide a better service. It runs 15 specially-adapted Mercedes 307 buses in Birmingham and Dudley.
Under its new managing director, Chris Robertson, the company hopes to provide twobus services for five other Midland districts, including Solihull and Wolverhampton, and to become financially selfsufficient in the coming months.
