What have we planned for next week's issue? Plenty is the answer. It is intended that we should be looking in depth at articulated vehicles. But it may not happen!
We report with regret, that owing to industrial action by members of the National Union of Journalists, who are in dispute with Business Press International, we may have to hold over the planned contents.
• Our plans include a Bedford TM road test; the progress of artic buses; a report from United Transport Tanker Division; developments in trailers, the operation of a large fleet by owner drivers; articulated unit specification tables.
That is what should be coming next week. If it does not we crave your indulgence and understanding.
• We often receive telephone calls from operators seeking up-to-date information on the specifications of vehicles. "We've tried everywhere," they say. "Where can we find them?" The answer is "right here." Next week's issue will contain upto-date specifications of all the tractive units on sale in the UK. • One of those tractive units is Bedford's TM, a rather underrated model, in Tim Blakemore's view. He has road tested a Cummins E290-powered, 38 tonnes gcw TM around CM's Scottish Route — twice, once when the 40mph dual carriageway limit was in force, and once at 50mph. What are the differences in performance and how does the TM compare with its major rivals? The answers are in next week's CM.
