KENT County Council hl reserved a 400-acre site ne the Dartford Tunnel for po sible use as a freight transf terminal.
Derelict land at Stot Marsh, between the A226 at M25 tunnel approach, has loi been regarded by the couni as a key site for storage at distribution by road, rail, ai water transport.
It is looking now for priva concerns which are interest in exploiting the site — own by several companies — b will not develop the area ' itself.
The council's commitme is to improve the A226 and build an M25 junction at Sto Marsh in 1982-84. It has firm date in mind for the dustrial work, but might a vance the timing of the rco works if private indust moves in at an early date.
Kent does not regard its as an expert on common u: transport facilities and has r gone into that matter in a depth.
A spokesman told CM ti the council was quite rec( tive to the idea if mooted private industry, and add "Commercial viability is goi to be the key."
