• Following CM forecasts regarding the introduction of a double-deck version of the Anglo-Swedish Metro-Scania bus, and confirmation in the August 6 1971 issue that design work had begun, a significant order is that of 20 Metro-Scania double-deckers for Merseyside Passenger Transport Executive. The buses will be purchased as part of an intake of 150 double-deckers planned for 1974.
At its meeting last week, Merseyside PTA announced its intention to borrow £1.85m to finance the purchase of the new doubledeckers, the balance being made up of 80 British Leyland and 50 Bristol VRT models.
