ATrunk roads, including motorways, total 5,589 miles. Classified road mileages are class I: 12,780; class II: 11,557; class III: 36,215.
But we have 78,144 miles of unclassified roads, more than half the total. This underlines what a predominant part the mediumsize road vehicle will play, because of its flexibility, for many years to come.
