Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

By John Darker

BOUT 60 owner-driver lorrymen working on the southern extension of the M6 at Bescott went on strike on Monday and Tuesday because, I understand, inequities in rates paid by three sub-contractors employed by the main contractors, Taylor Woodrow Ltd.

A spokesman for Taylor Woodrow told COMMERCIAL MOTOR: "This was a rather stupid dispute which was resolved remarkably quickly".

Mr. Jack Male, managing director of Male and Son (Pensnett) Ltd. said that his firm, with much experience of motorway work, had quoted for the supply of vehicles to the main contractor, and had, in fact, done a few days work for the sub-contractor, Conway. Mr. Male's impression was that the haulage rates being paid on the length of motorway concerned were far too low to be economic.
