MR. A. B. BIRNIE, the Scottish Licensing Authority, on Tuesday formally opened a maintenance depot for Allisons Freightlines Ltd., of Dundee, at Gartcosh (near Glasgow). The £250,000 depot is designed for servicing of 100 heavy lorries on a 16-acre site.
The company and wholly owned subsidiaries in England operate 368 vehicles, mostly on heavy haulage between Scotland and the Midlands and London. The depot, strategically placed near the new AngloScottish motorway and at a network of new highways, will be able to give a 24-hour service within the next 12 months and there will also be storage and distribution facilities.
