Devon haulier jumps before being pushed'

PM CLARKE, THE Barnstaple, North Devon-based haulier, has gone into voluntary liquidation in a bid to "jump rather than be pushed," according to its MD John Incledon.

The family-run firm called in liquidators Smith & Williamson after struggling with insufficient volumes since the loss of a 20-year partnership with fuel company Total 12 months ago.

''Over the past year we've had to reduce the fleet from 12 to nine, and even then there has not been anywhere near enough volumes," says Incledon. The group's CV repair unit continues to trade as PM Clarke Commercials.
