Flegg announces merger with Midland

AYLESBURY-BASED machine installation company, and former Motor Transport 'Haulier of the Year', Flegg Transport will merge with Midland Machinery, a plant installation and removal expert.

Both businesses operate under a holding company, says Jayson Flegg, managing director of Flegg Transport. "Midland Machinery uses Versa-Lift forklifts, which carry huge amounts of weight. They are very much into plant installation and removal.

"They don't run crane vehicles, we don't run Versa-Lift forklifts but we do a lot of work together, we are going to merge the firms to have greater versatility," he said.

Flegg Transport employs 16 people and Midland Machinery, based in Walsall. 15.

The deal is at an early stage, said Flegg, but it creates huge opportunities and cuts down on mileage. "If we know a new machine is going to Carlisle we can have it delivered to Birmingham, then deliver it from there by having a crane vehicle based there, and they can base a Versa-Lift forklift here."
