Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Seddon Atkinson's longawaited new 17-tonner will be offered with either a Perkins Phaser or Cummins B Series engine — underneath Seddon's own version of the EuroCargo cab — when it hits the streets in two months' time. And from next June there will also be the option of a Cummins C Series.

Iveco Ford and Seddon are both aiming to launch their new 17-tonners in September; Seddon says it has already received orders for the new chassis from Wreford's Transport, Burtons Biscuits and Colway Tyres.

Seddon's latest rigid, codenamed T5, will not have a specific model name like its bigger brother, the Strato. Instead, models will be identified by a designation based on engine horsepower, make and gross weight. The new models have already been launched to Seddon's dealers.

Chassis powered by the 157kW (210hp) charge-cooled Perkins Phaser will be called the 210 P17, while the equivalent model with the latest Euro-1 spec charge-cooled Cummins B Series engine, pushing out the same power, will be known as the 210 C17.

Chassis equipped with the 8.3-litre Cummins C Series rated at 179kW (240hp) will be called the 240 C17; a more powerful C Series model could also be offered.

The four-point coil-sprung EuroCargo cab will be trimmed and styled to ensure the Oldham truck maker's own identity is retained. The current gearbox options fitted in Seddon's existing 17-tonne line-up will be carried over on the new models.

So far Seddon is saying little about its use of the EuroCargo cab above 17 tonnes beyond acknowledging that it will be seen on selected multi-wheeler models, not least its six-wheeler chassis which is currently stuck with the over-size and relatively heavy Strato cab.

However, it is believed that a EuroCargo-cabbed Seddon sixwheeler with the Cummins C Series engine could appear sooner than expected. Such a vehicle would prove attractive to mixer operations as well as tipper buyers.

Seddon has also revealed Cummins' Euro-1 engine line-up for 1993 which includes 275, 325 plus 350 CELECT (electronic) versions of the popular 10-litre engine along with 340, 380, 410 and 500hp versions of the 14-litre Cummins Super E lump.

The E500 will also have CELECT electronic fuel injection. And a 328kW (440hp) derated option will be offered.
