• Iveco Ford has ordered 50 Granning Lynx drive-axle air suspension conversions for the TurboDaily, following service trials with ambulances converted by Southworth Chassis Engineering.
Development work included road testing on cobbled streets and test tracks before Nottinghamshire ambulance service put four TurboDaily 40-10s into service trials.
To provide a convenient loading height for stretchers, a switch in the cab deflates the suspension airbags to lower the suspension. The bags are automatically re-inflated once the handbrake is released.
The system is based on the Granning Lynx PDL system, comprising twin trailing beams, air springs, hangers and brackets.
