Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A big increase in contract hire of tractive units and complete tanker outfits is reported by Fleet Hire Ltd and Hire Services Ltd, associated companies of Ryland Vehicle Group Ltd. Vehicles without drivers are leased by Fleet Hire and 49 tanker outfits are currently on hire, while Hire Services lease vehicles with drivers and 52 outfits are being operated under contract, many on double shift. The Ryland tanker show was opened on Tuesday at the Group's Ryland Street depot and closes today (Friday).

The accent on service provided by the Group is also exemplified by a stock of tankers, tractive units and furniture removal vans that are immediately available for purchase (or hire) and by comprehensive stocks of parts for tankers and other vehicles. And it is 'notable that a demonstration 32-ton-gross tractive unit is available on loan for a 7/10-day test of the unit in the hands of the operator's drivers.

The group's "remounting service" provides for fitting a used tank and used equipment on a new chassis, and an increasing number of operators is taking advantage of the service. Exhibits at the Show indicate a growing awareness on the part of operators that employing the right tool for the job is essential in a competitive market.
