THE BEVAN Group has bought glass-rack carrier manufacturer Supertrucks for an undisclosed sum.
Bevan's decision to purchase the Merseyside firm comes less than a year after it launched its own glass-carrying vehicle. MD Anthony Bevan said the company's financial muscle, as well as sales and marketing expertise, means Supertrucks has a bright future.
"Supertrucks represents an exciting addition to the Bevan portfolio. We look forward to expanding the business with the enthusiastic support of the team in St Helens," he said.
Supertrucks was founded in 1981 by former chairman Peter Wright, who is staying on in a consultancy role. He said: "With its high-quality, specialised range of products, and a committed, loyal workforce who know exactly what is required to serve this niche market, I have no doubt that this business will prove a sound investment for its new owners."
Bevan Group has been busy expanding its portfolio: it went into partnership with Schmitz Cargobull to build temperature-controlled bodywork for rigid vehicles last year; it bought a stake in accident repair and refurbishment firm A&R Vehicle Services in October; and in November it struck a deal with DEL Equipment (UK) to maintain tail-lifts.
