• Less than a month after Mercedes-Benz revealed its plans set up a used truck retail centre in the Midlands 1C/v1 19 Dec 1996-1 Jan 1997), Iveco Ford aims to have two wholly-owned UK used truck retail centres up and running before the end of the year. They are expected to handle up to 2,500 units a year.
Commercial operations director Roger Phillips says the first site will be opened before the middle of the year; CM understands it will be in the south of England. Iveco Ford is prepared to invest at least El m in the site. "It won't be short of working capital," says Phillips. As part of the company's latest push into the used market, its sites will take vehicles from a variety of sources, not just TruckSure Services—the company that guarantees residual values to the Iveco Ford dealer network.
Operators will also be offered a number of finance packages on used vehicles, which will be fully refurbished, says Iveco Ford.
