Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A Stoke-on-Trent driver is urging CM readers to lobby the Radio Authority in support of his 24-hour traffic-news radio station.

John Price, who works as a driver for Hays Chemical Distribution in Sandbach, wants Coast to Coast UK Interactive Radio to occupy a vacant longwave frequency, as he believes current traffic information is inadequate. The station will have quarter-hourly traffic updates as well as music.

The Radio Authority is offering LW 225kHz to the highest bidder but could grant it to another station in exceptional circumstances. Price is hoping to convince the authority that Coast to Coast will provide an valuable public service.

The traffic information is to be collated from the AA, RAC, Metro, Traffic Master and emergency services. Lines will also be available for drivers to ring in any congestion blackspots they come across.

To support the campaign write to David Vick, Head of Development, the Radio Authority, Holbrook House, 14 Great Queen St, Holborn, London WC2 5DG.
