• Road/rail consortium Combined Transport (CTL) cannot find UK hauliers with suitable trailers to operate its swap body service from the Continent. CTL operates train loads from Harwich to Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham and it is negotiating with British Rail to add routes to Cardiff and Glasgow.
But development manager Mike Stockdale says that few UK hauliers have trailers which can handle the 13.6m and 7.15m swap body units favoured in Europe: "We would like to hear from hauliers with the right equipment," he says.
