was not disappointed with the results. But he said that the poor performances in CFPP and cloud point showed that oil manufacturers, "although they would not admit it, are providing a lower safety margin on waxing, possibly because of the mild winters we are experiencing". The FTA believes there should be a British Standard for cloud point. It also wants manufacturers to reduce the difference between cloud point and CFPP, ideally to as low as 10°C. The greater the differential, the more likely a fine mist of waxing will take place, says Montgomerie.
