• A high-volume artic outfit will be exhibited at next month's Amsterdam show. It uses a Scania R113 MW 4x2 with 95cm coupling height and a 13.5m Lamboo reefer trailer.
The rig has been ordered by Lincolnshire-based haulier Spalding Haulage, which estimates that it will save it £10,000 a year on ferry trips.
The unit is one of Scania's first ultra-low couplers. The trailer with its Thermo King SMX fridge is built to ATP class C standard.
Its 13.32m inner length may provide 17% less volume than a drawbar, but it can carry more than 20 tonnes at a time.
