Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Contrary to a report published elsewhere last week, the Fiat 241 pick-up is not yet being marketed in Britain. Six examples of the model are to be brought into the country for use by distributors on demonstrations to assess the likely sales if the model were to be offered on this market.

Since the 1100T pick-up went out of production just over a year ago, Fiat (England) has imported only the smaller Fiat commercial vehicles. The 241 was introduced at the Turin Show in November 1967 and the general design is the same as the 1100T. But payload capacity is 27.5cwt as against 22.5cwt.

The model is also similar to the 238 1-tonner but has rear-wheel drive instead of front-wheel drive and this results in a higher floor line. But like the 1100T the 241 has a false floor to bridge the gap between full-length panels which continue the lines of the wheelboxes. When the floor is removed, a dropped well is given and the spaces under the forward extension of the wheelboxes provide extra storage accessible through exterior flaps.

The 241 uses mechanical components from the Fiat 124 car range, including a four-cylinder 1,438 c.c. petrol engine giving 51 bhp net (DIN); a diesel option is not likely to be available in Britain. Transmission is through a four-speed synchromesh gearbox. there is independent front suspension with an anti-roll bar and braking is by a vacuum-servo-assisted system with separate hydraulic circuits for the front and rear axles.

Overall length of the 241 pick-up is just over 15ft. and the load area measures 9ft. 4.5in. by Mt. 4.25in. making 50 sq.ft. Unladen weight is quoted as 26.5cwt. and drop-side and platform versions are made as well as the pick-up. If sold in Britain, retail price will be about £875 ex. works.
