He joined Ribble from the Eastern Counties Omnibus Co. in 1958 as district superintendent at Lancaster.

D.A. Cox has been appointed chief engineer of the Northern General Group of companies with effect from February 1. Mr. Cox was Birmingham City Transport chief operating engineer, being redesignated district engineer (Birmingham) upon the formation of the West Midland PTE.

Laurie P. Conon, who as reported last week has resigned his position as group fleet sales manager of Crane Fruehau and Boden Ltd. in order to join the board of Merriworth Engineering) Ltd., moved to Boden Trailers Ltd. in 1960, and not CF.

A nationally representative national executive council has been appointed for the first time for the National Guild of Transport Managers. The members are: Raymond W. Beardsley, of British Celanese Ltd., Derby; Sidney A. Clayden, of Brentwood, Essex; Arthur ("Geordie") E. Elvin, of Simons and Co. Ltd., SE16; Jack Hallam, of S. Scott and Sons Ltd., Oldham; William Heathcote, of Henry Ashwell and Co. Ltd., Notts: William ("Bill") E. Ingram, of Consolidated Land Services Ltd., Scunthorpe; John Raymond, of Stirlings (Glasgow) Ltd. and associated companies; Colin C. Todd, of Arrand and Son (Hauliers) Ltd., Scotter, Lincs, The TMG was formed last year to represent the interests of directors, owner-operators and employees in both haulage and industrial firms who are potential holders of transport managers' licences.
