• "More Bedford trucks were registered in the UK in 1969 than in any previous year, setting a new record for any one marque," Mr. David L. Hegland, Vauxhall Motors' chairman and managing director, said on Tuesday, in reviewing the company's 1969 performance.
"Another highlight of the year." he said, "was that until our Dunstable production lines were forced to a halt at the end of September, our Bedford truck exports through the year had been 46 per cent higher than in the same period of 1968."
Last year's factory sales of Bedfords to the home market were 55.636 units and to export 47.094, a total of 102,730,
