The body sides can be extended on site to a width of 14 ft. When closed up for road travel, the. body is 7 ft. 6 in. wide and 25 ft. long. It is constructed in light alloy and is carried on a Carrimore semitrailer chassis behind a Cornmer 7-ton prime mover.

When uncoupled, stability is ensured by a series of captive bottle-jacks. The vehicle can be put in readiness to give full radiographic service within an hour of reaching the site.

The high-output X-ray unit operates from either a 50 cis 15 KVA alternator or a transfOrmer, the output being fed through a 500-cycle X-ray generator known as a Rotopulse.
