LONDON 2012

Ian Wainwright, road freight programme manager at Transport for London Staplehurst Transits in Tonbridge, Kent asks: We have a regular delivery to Leyton at New Spitalfields Market, which is close to the Olympic Park. Is there going to be a specific route or time frame for accessing this delivery point?

“Several locations, such as New Spitalfields Market, are not within the Olympic Park but are in close proximity to the venues, near to some of the transport hubs that will be used by spectators and the Olympic Family. These areas are part of the venue traffic areas and may also be on the Olympic Route Network, and as such there will be several measures in place to keep London moving and support vehicles to flow to and from this area.

These measures will be in place for the length of the Olympic (27 July to 12 August) and Paralympic Games (29 August to 9 September), plus two days before and shortly after, to allow for arrivals and departures. It is intended that many of these measures will be stood down during the inter-Games period (15 to 26 August).

“Operators need to be aware of the timing and location of such restrictions and talk to their customers to ensure everyone is aware of temporary changes. In this case, Staplehurst Transits can be confident as Transport for London is providing support to New Spitalfields Market as part of our Freight Advice Programme. If other hauliers want to know more about time restrictions we’d advise they attend one of our Freight Advice Workshops.” Details can be found at www.tン.gov.uk/2012freight • Got an Olympic-related question?
