Shield Haulage

NIGEL A SHIELD, trading as Shield Haulage, has been granted permission to base three vehicles and the same number of trailers at the Sandy Carr Sawmill in Wolsingham, Durham, subject to the following undertakings: • drivers need to be told not to exceed 5mph to 10 mph on the unmade road; • drivers will be given instructions to watch out for vehicles coming up the unclassiied lane and wait at the junction between the unmade track and unclassiied access road if a vehicle is already travelling up it; • drivers should be instructed to stop at the entrance/ exit to the site to ensure no vehicle will join the unmade track. Also, drivers will only move off when it is clear and safe to do so; • no maintenance will take place at the operating centre except for minor repairs of a type that can be carried out at the roadside. Shield Haulage will ensure a diesel/oil spill kit is available on site.

Colin Vaines and Sons

IN LEEDS on 6 January a PI into Barnsley haulier Colin Vaines and Sons – directors Roy Hunter Vaines and Michael Hunter Vaines – was held, and the following was decided: • the irm’s O-licence will be revoked from 15 April; • Roy Hunter Vaines is disqualiied indeinitely with immediate effect from holding or obtaining an O-licence in any trafic area; • Michael Hunter Vaines is disqualiied from holding or obtaining an O-licence in any trafic area for a period of one year to run from 31 January 2012; • Roy Hunter Vaines and Michael Hunter Vaines, in their capacity as transport managers, have lost their repute and are disqualiied from acting in this role indeinitely.

CM DOWNTON has been cleared to base ive vehicles and 25 trailers at the Integrated Third Party Logistics site in Wakeield.

Sutton and Son

SUTTON AND SON (St Helens) wants to base four vehicles and four trailers at a unit in Napier Road, Cumbernauld, Glasgow.

• On 16 February a PI will look at disciplinary action against Scarborough Scaffolding.

• A PI on 20 February will consider a new application from Durham-based Andrew Piggford, trading as AP Haulage, in view of concerns regarding fitness to hold a licence.

Edinburgh

• Chillin Transport, based in Glasgow, will have a variation application looked at during a PI on 8 March. The TC will also look at disciplinary action against the business and consider a community authorisation.
