SCOTTISH OIL services business SBS Logistics has acquired rival firm Seaforth Maritime. which includes a large distribution operation.

Previously. Seaforth had bought out Aberdeen haulage lirm Ashley Transport, in doing so acquiring its contract with International Paper.

SRS Logistics now runs more than 100 trucks, around 60 of which will run as a dedicated haulage and logistics division called Sea forth Transport.

Mike Porter, MD of SBS Logistics. says the takeover will give the firm a combined turnover of £75m. "It gives us the opportunity to enter into a new market that isn't oil and gas-related and also gives us the opportunity to develop our quayside fuels business," he explains.

The firm has bases in Heysham. Lanes: Great Yarmouth. Norfolk: Aberdeen; and Lerwick, Shet land Isles. It employs 350 people.
